About a year ago Hanita Lenses launched Intensity IOL, an innovative optics IOL with five foci, providing continuous vision throughout the whole visual range. Intensity has been implanted in approximately 1,500 eyes worldwide, by over 100 surgeons. The results are promising; patients can see at all distances, day and night, with high contrast sensitivity.The feedback from patients indicates a high level of satisfaction and high rate of spectacle independency.

Approximately 40% of the population has corneal astigmatism above 1D. Consequently, providing a toric version of INTENSITY is critical and necessary to make spectacle-free vision available to a  broader group of patients.

Intensity Toric shares the same diffractive–aspheric multifocal optical design as Intensity IOL. Intensity Toric features a plate platform which ensures excellent stability and centration. A high level of rotational stability is achieved due to the wide angle of contact with the capsular bag.

During the development of Intensity Toric, the optical performance was well-validated using various bench tests indicating comparable results with Intensity. Intensity Toric was implanted both in Japan and Israel. The preliminary results indicate performance similar to Intensity, with accurate refraction, very good visual acuity, contrast sensitivity and patient-satisfaction.

 

Dr. Sugita from Japan is well experienced with Intensity IOL. “I am very satisfied with the latest Intensity technology that also makes my patients happy”, stated Dr. Sugita after performing Intensity implantations. After gaining experience with Intensity, Dr. Sugita also implanted Intensity Toric. He has reported excellent results and performance similar to Intensity.

 

Intensity Toric is CE approved.

The lens is currently available with 1D Cylinder correction. The higher cylinders will be available

by the end of July 2021.
